On a momentous day for the Serbian Orthodox community in Jacksonville, FL, the cornerstone for the new Church of St. King Milutin was consecrated in a solemn and deeply spiritual ceremony. His Grace, Bishop Irinej, who serves as the Bishop of the Diocese of Washington-New York and Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church, presided over the Divine Liturgy and the consecration.

The event brought together clergy, parishioners, and well-wishers from various communities. Among the clergy of the Miami Deanery present was Presbyter-Economos Vladislav Golić, our parish priest of the Meeting of Our Lord Mission Parish in Naples, FL.

It was a unique and historic opportunity for all in attendance. Each participant was invited to place a stone in the foundation of the church, thereby becoming a part of its history. This symbolic act connected the present generation of believers with the rich tradition of their forebears, who have built and sustained the Serbian Orthodox Church for centuries. The consecration of the cornerstone is not merely a ceremonial act but a profound expression of faith and commitment to the Church's growth.

The participation of the faithful in laying the cornerstone signifies a collective commitment to the Church's future. It is a powerful reminder that the Church is not merely a building but a living community of believers, each contributing to the growth and flourishing of the faith.

As the construction of the Church of St. King Milutin progresses, the Jacksonville Serbian Orthodox community eagerly anticipates the day when they will gather within its walls to worship and celebrate the Divine Liturgy. Until then, the memory of this cornerstone consecration will serve as a beacon of hope and a testament to the enduring strength of their faith.
